Don’t let your holiday season travel plans make you take a break from your dental health!
With all of the different foods and changes to your daily life during the holidays, it’s even more important try and maintain your routine for keeping those pearly whites in tip top condition.
Here’s a few things that you can do to ensure you stay on-track with your dental health regimen!
KEEP YOUR DENTAL KIT CLOSE AT HAND
Travel size versions of pretty much everything is readily available. Get a dental travel kit together for yourself and the whole family! Mouthwash, floss pics, toothpaste, and a toothbrushes for each family member makes a great kit! The kids can even grab a new toothbrush at the store next time you go shopping… This will help them to use it while traveling, if they can pick it out themselves.
WARD OFF THE TOOTHBRUSH BACTERIA
When traveling, it’s easy to just toss the toothbrush into the bottom of the bag – yuk! You never know if that will result in inadvertently fishing out an old chunk of cereal left by your kids’ snack bag or a lovely ball of lint long forgotten and nestled snuggly next to your holiday socks…
Keep the bacteria off your brush by keeping it in a antibacterial cover or case. It’s good to have one that allows your toothbrush to dry – or just make sure it’s free of moisture before popping it into the case.
KEEP THE COOKIE CRAVINGS IN CHECK
You gotta have a little fun during the holidays. Part of the fun is sampling the mountains of cookies and sweets everyone has within close reach during this time… but instead of pulling a chair up to Grandma’s 3 tier cookie display on the dining room table, grab some veggies after, to balance it out. Also, drink water to help rinse out any remaining food particles from that chunk of fruitcake you snuck while everyone was watching the kids open presents!
TRY AND KEEP YOUR ROUTINE
It’s not always easy breaking away from the family festivities to brush your teeth. But it is easy to crash on the couch after a big meal after hanging out with the relatives – Before you drift off into a ham and sugar cookie induced slumber, grab a few minutes to brush your teeth. Losing a grip on your dental hygene routine could lead to problems down the road. Keep the brushing and flossing a priority for you and your family.
SQUEEZE IN A VISIT BEFORE THE NEW YEAR
If you are due for a check up, schedule an appointment with us – Don’t wait to tend to any signs of dental trouble until after the holidays. We’d be happy to see you and set you on the right path before the holidays are in full swing. If you have remaining dental benefits, why not use them up before you lose them come the new year?
Happy Holidays and Healthy Teeth to all of you from all of us here at Olson Denta Carel!
…(now, go brush your teeth!) Ha Ha Ha!!!
